BRITISH Antique SWIVEL Barrel O/U .38 Pistol
Mid-19th Century Double Barrel Sidearm
Here we present an antique British Swivel Barrel Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1840s in London, England. This pistol was small enough to fit inside a coat or pants pocket and benefitted from a double barrel rather than a single, which was rather the norm in those days. Superposing the barrels one over the other still made for a slender overall package. This pistol operates by manually cocking the hammer after the first shot then rotating the barrel cluster to present the next one ready to fire. There is nice scroll engraving on the frame and the breech of the barrels.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a dark gray patina. The wooden grip is in good shape with a short, stable crack on the left side. The bores are dark. The action is strong. Here is a very neat little self-defense pistol from 19th Century England!
