Description:
Serial #54849, .450 CF, 2 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that features beautiful, original English scrollwork engraving, and retains 90-92% of the original nickel finish. Some small areas of plum-brown freckling are present on the barrel, gripstraps, trigger guard bow, and within the engraving itself in a few spots. Additionally, the revolver is marked on the topstrap: “THE BRITISH / BULL DOG", and retailer marked on the barrel: “FLETCHER / GLOUCESTER". The action and lock-up are tight, and function flawlessly. The original ivory grips have lovely age toning and distinct, visible grain. Fletcher operated on Westgate St., Gloucester from 1870 until about 1890.
