Description:
Serial #142835, .31 Caliber, 4" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an 1858 manufactured revolver that has all matching numbers, including the wedge and arbor, with the barrel retaining 90% plus of the original bright, blue finish that has silvered along the edges, and has numerous small peen marks at the wedge on the right side. The frame, hammer, and lever have retained a like amount of original color case-hardening, while the cylinder, which has 80-85% original blue remaining, has virtually all of the original stagecoach scene remaining with excellent and un-flattened safety studs along the rear face. The backstrap and trigger guard have retained nearly all of the original silver plate finish which has tarnished to a mostly blue-black color over time. The walnut grip is likewise in excellent shape retaining 90-95% of the original piano varnish finish with only very minor wear at the sides of the butt. The revolver is tight with firm lock-up and the action functions flawlessly. This is a very handsome example of a Model 1849 Pocket that has a lot of original finish remaining, and rates excellent overall. Antique
