Description:
The FN Model FNC was developed between 1975 and 1977 for the NATO standardization trials for a .223/5.56 caliber rifle.  The select-fire design was based off of the Model 76 and the FN CAL rifle and was initally rushed into development leading to some issues surfacing during the NATO trials.  Ultimately it was withdrawn for consideration until it could be perfected with the proper time given for it's development.  In 1986 the final version of the FNC was accepted by Sweden as their main battle rifle, and in 1989 the design was adopted by the Belgian Armed Forces as the successor to the legendary FAL rifle.  It was a very reliable and well-made weapon system that incorporated an adjustable 2-position gas system as well as an integrated grenade launching front-sight that cuts off the gas sytem when flipped up.  FN decided to market a semi-auto only version for commercial sales in the 1980's, and small numbers were imported into the United States until 1987 when it was discontinued.  There were two models offered with either a 16" or 18.5" inch barrel; a fixed stock Light Battle Rifle, and a Paratrooper Model with a folding stock.  This example is the more sought-after Paratrooper Model with the 18.5" inch barrel.  This example is in superb all-original condition with a perfect minty bright bore.  The original factory black finish is in excellent condition and the rifle could be unfired.  At a minimum it has been in storage and unfired for the better part of the last 20 years.  There are no signs of finish wear or handling wear.  The internals are just as clean as the exterior with no visible wear on the moving parts.  This Paratrooper Model FNC is as good as it gets.  If you have been looking for an interesting and scarce rifle to add to your pre-ban semi-auto rifle collection this FNC would be an excellent choice.  It would be nearly impossible to improve upon the condition of this example.
