From my peronal collection, This Colt Model 1862 Police shows a very early 2 digit serial number being 42. This gun is completely original and correct in every way. This gun shows the early Hartoford address and the propper small serial number dyes. The serial number is stamped on the cylinder, frame, barrel, guard and backstrap The grip shows nearly all of the original varnish. The guns originl finish has turned to a pleasing patina showing some finish throughout. The action functions excellent. the trigger guard and backstrap show nearly 98% original silver finish. A very rare and desireable early variation.
