Description:
A factory letter accompanies this extremely rare revolver confirming the configuration and detailing its original shipment on January 25, 1957 to H.H. Harris Co, in Chicago, Illinois. This gun was part of a 5-unit order of identical guns, which was part of an very large order of various models that all went to 'various police departments' according to the original invoice from the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation. Virtually all of these examples are blued and nickel variations in any condition are extremely rare.
The gun retains an impressive amount of the original nickel finish showing wear and general handling evidence commensurate with having been carried by law enforcement. The bottom line is that finding another example will be a lifelong and extremely difficult search. Be sure to add this rare example to your collection!
