Description:
This is a original "Type 3" SS Contract Walther PPK. This variation is a high-polish finish with Crown-N proofs and is the first variation to have factory applied serial numbers on both the frame and the slide. The muzzle applied serial number of the previous SS Contract PPK was eliminated. This variation has a "K" under the serial numbers and falls in the range of approximately 206,000 to 235,000. While all guns with the K under the serial numbers on the slide and frame are SS Contract guns, the original factory magazines were also factory marked on the spine with serial number and a "1" or "2" for the number magazine further identifying it as an SS contract weapon. This particular example comes with one of these original magazines, number 1 of 2. As described in the title, this PPK was refinished at some point during it's life but has a great look to it. The refinish appears to be at least 20 years old as there is some high-edge wear showing and a little bit of thinning in the finish on the grip straps. The bore is in excellent shape with nice strong rifling. The original grips are in good shape overall and with only a few tiny hairline cracks, two of which are nearly invisible with the worst being on the right side behind the Walther logo. All of the controls on this SS PPK work perfectly and the slide is tight to the frame. The internals show very little wear, and it is obvious that this gun has not been fired very much at all since it left the factory. This is a very scarce and sought-after pistol and would make an excellent addition to any collection. SS Contract PPKs of any variation are very hard to find, much less with one of the original serial numbered magazines.
