Description:
This M1 Carbine was produced in late 1943. It is a third block production run which is the last production run for National Postal Meter. The serial number for this gun is 4298571. This carbine is all correct by parts and time frame for parts production run. The barrel is by I.B.M. which was a prime producer of barrels for Natinal Postal Meter. The barrel is not dated. The barrel's bore is bright and sharp. The stock is properly marked NPM FJA in a square box. The hand guard is also marked TN. The flat bolt retains most of the original blued finish. The firing pin and extractor are correctly marked for N.P.M.. The rear sight is original to this gun and has not been replaced. The type three barrel band has never been installed on this gun. The type two barrel band is fairly rare for N.P.M. The front sight is marked SN. The magazine is also N.P.M. coded. The carbine is as stated, all correctly marked for N.P.M. This gun is a veterans bring back and has not been tampered with. This carbine shows service use and wear but no abuse. The wood has no cracks or loss. The stock has the high wood intact and not cut down. The sling and oiler is correctly issued for this carbine. N.P.M. production is 6.8% of the total M1 carbine production of World War 2. These original unaltered carbines are very difficult to find today. Most of these guns were rebuilt or restored or have been put through a government rebuild program. This carbine is in original as issued condition! This is the kind of carbine that serious collectors strive to find for their collections. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details.
