Engraved BRITISH Antique “Haywood” Pocket Pistol
19th Century European Conceal and Carry
Here we present an antique Engraved English Pocket Pistol by James Haywood of Chester, made circa 1830. This pistol was designed for very close quarters self-defense and was very much along the same lines as the Henry Deringer pistol in America.
This pistol features a folding trigger, which deploys as the trigger is cocked; a sliding safety behind the trigger. The left side of the frame is marked “HAYWOOD” and the right side is marked “CHESTER”. British proof marks are located under the barrel.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a gray patina. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in good shape. The bore is smooth. The action on this pistol is strong. Here is a neat little piece of European history!
