VERY RARE Smith & Wesson Post War Transition .357 magnum; SN S78322; according to Supica-Nahas S&W book, p. 155, around 142 specimens produced from December 5, 1946 to end of 1949; this specimen was shipped to Sloan’s Sporting Goods, New York City on Aug. 24, 1950; 3.5 inch bbl. and blue finish; this gun is true Pinto; Roy Jinks told Chris Davis that Pintos in this period either lettered blue or nickel; Jinks also stated that the gun was nickel plated after it left the factory; Jinks also stated that he could only report what was in the records; there are two opinions in the factory letter that are not in records; Mr. Jinks can not explain why a ‘N’ is after serial number on bbl. and cylinder (correct for 1950) frame has ‘B’ under grips; gun is in excellent condition with some cold blue touch-up; PROBABLY THE ONLY TRANSITION 357 PINTO IN EXISTENCE!
