These were developed by Leopold and Johann Gasser of Vienna, Austria but made by numerous small Belgian and Austrian firms. These “Gassers” as they are frequently called were adopted by Austria at the end of the 19th Century but have become more strongly associated with Montenegro due to King Nicolas’s proclamation that “Every male citizen of Montenegro is a member of the Militia, and therefore not only justified but also obliged to possess at least one Gasser Pattern revolver.” Since everyone had one it was fashionable to make them into status symbols or fashion statements thus many are decorated, some more elaborately than others. This one features bone grips. The top of the barre is marked “BELGIUM”. The left side of the barrel is marked “CAL 44”. The extractor is circular and activated by the pivoting downwards of the barrel. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a light gray patina. The markings are clear and legible. The bone grips are in good shape. The bore is clear and bright with good rifling. The action on this revolver is strong, though the trigger return spring is a bit weak so the trigger reset must be done manually. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5-1/2 inches. Caliber: 11.25x36mm (.44 Caliber) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee.
