Description:
Serial #21593T, .36 Caliber, 3 3/4" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a Fletcher of Gloucester marked revolver (“FLETCHER, GLOUCESTER" on topstrap) that has retained 70-75% of the original blue with gray fading along the edges, as well as within the engraving on the frame and barrel. The frame has typical floral scroll engraving with simple border engraving on the cylinder, and scallop shell motifs on the barrel breech. The cylinder and side-mounted loading lever have turned bright gray over time with only a few hints of the original color case-hardening remaining. The pin spring and safety retain traces of the original bright fire blueing. The checkered, one-piece, British walnut grip has light wear and flattening of the points, as well as some handling marks scattered about. The revolver is fully functional, and locks up tightly. It is housed in an oaken traveling case with green baize lined interior that also contains: an original Tranter double cavity bullet mold, Dixon oil bottle, small Dixon pistol flask, japanned tin of cloth patches, japanned tin of Tranter lubricant, and a japanned tin of Tranter Lubricating Bullets. This is a fantastic, cased Tranter, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique
