Description:
The Marlin Golden 39A "Mountie" was manufactured from 1957 to 1972.  This .22 rimfire lever action carbine features a tool-less take-down design a straight grip American Walnut stock set with a round 20" inch barrel with iron sights and "Micro-Groove" rifling.  The front sight is hooded and the trigger has a factory gold finish.  The reciever came drilled and tapped for optics from the factory.  These were very popular when Marlin introduced them due to their good looks, smaller size, and reputation for excellent accuracy and reliability.  This particular example was manufactured in 1964 and is in very good all-original condition.  The factory blue finish shows some minor wear and handling marks but still has a great look to it overall.  The well known Marlin trademark gold finish on the trigger is also in great shape and shows just minor wear on the edges.  The bore in this Mountie is in excellent condition.  The Micro-Groove rifling is sharp and clean and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind visible.  The original Walnut stock set is in great shape overall.  It is free from any cracks, repairs, or major damage and only shows some minor handling and storage marks.  The original Marlin-branded black plastic buttplate is still in place and intact, as is the factory white spacer between the buttplate and wood.  The factory sling swivels are also in place on the metal forend cap and and keel of the buttstock, but the white and black plastic "bullseye" has been lost at some point (these can be purchased for a few bucks online and replaced if the new owner so chooses).  All of the controls on this rifle work 100% like the day it left the factory and the action is in perfect working order.  The action is smooth and tight when worked by hand with no slop or grit.  The trigger is quite good on this Marlin, breaking cleanly without any excessive drag or sloppiness.  This 39A Mountie comes with a period Weaver K2.5 scope mounted up on a Weaver base and rings.  The fixed 2.5 power scope has nice clear optics with no scratches, chips, or cracks, and it has a standard fine crosshair reticle.  The click-style elevation and windage adjustments work perfectly and this scope holds zero like it was designed to.  It is a great combination for this rimfire carbine and looks both "correct" and great on this carbine.  If you have been looking for a top-quality American-made lever action .22 rifle for your collection this example would be a great choice.  It is still in good enough condition to be an investment but not too nice to take to the woods/range and shoot.  These 1960's vintage Marlins are considered by many to be some of the finest .22 lever action firearms ever made.
