Description:
A less common Dublin built Blunderbuss built by Henry Willet. Circa 1790's. This piece shows the unusual feature of a saddle ring and bar mounted on the left stock flat. This example shows a brass barrel 14 3/4" with a 1 5/8" bell mouth and marked Dublin. The lock is all original flint, (no replaced parts) and is market willet. The naker Henry Willet worked in Dublin from 1781 to 1810. The stock is very sound showing original finish. All brass fixtures and is mounted with its original red with jag. The only defect is a crack in the iron barrel tang below the tang screw. The unusual featuere of this blunderbuss is the aforementioned bar and ring which indicates that this piece was built for horseback carry.Henry Willet is listed in the Irish Gunmakers, Dublin 1781.
