Description:
For sale is a rare Lefever FE 16ga. As with many things in life, there is "the good, the bad, and the ugly." This gun has a little bit of "good" and "ugly" but nothing bad about it.

The Good - The gun itself is a 54,xxx SN range FE grade 16ga. It has 28" fluid steel barrels with 2-3/4" chambers. Double triggers, Auto-ejectors, and auto-safety. The gun has a capped pistol gripped buttstock. Barrels are in great overall shape with bores both measuring .670 (spot on for a Lefever 16ga). Chokes are .036 (right) and .043 (left) which is about x-Full and x-full. Bores are bright and shiny and barrels ring like a Sunday morning church bell. The barrels retain about 60% original blue. The barrels are nice and thick and chokes could easily be opened to your liking by a competent gunsmith.

The action is nicely engraved in typical late FE grade pattern with flyings quail on right, falling duck on left surrounded by light scroll. One unique thing about this gun is that it was special ordered without cocking indicators. The gun has about 20% original case color remaining and engraving is mostly sharp.

The forearm is found with typical FE grade checkering pattern and engraving. Overall, it is a great lightweight field gun.

The ugly - the buttstock is in need of some TLC. The bottom right stock finger needs to be reglued as it has chipped out. There is no wood missing, it is simply chipped out. I could reglue it for the buyer if desired. There is a 1-1/2" wood extension on the end of the butt. The stock measures 14-3/8" LOP with the extension with drops of 1-5/8" DAC and 2-3/4" DAH. The extension could certainly be made more professional or this is a perfect small bore gun to stock to your dimensions since it is priced so right.

This is a rare gun and will make a fantastic project for the right person. I've seen less than a dozen F grade 16ga guns with steel barrels in more than 25 years of aggressively chasing Lefevers. This gun is absolutely priced right at $SPF plus shipping to your FFL. Please don't hesitate to call me at (704) 280-2382 or email me with any questions. I can also take any additional photos that are needed.
