The Quality Hardware M1 Carbine I have here is one of the best in terms of the wood and metal condition. The barrel is a correct original Underwood 11-43 Flaming Bomb stamped ribbed finish and proper crown radius. The rifleings inside the barrel are very pronounced and bore shiny. The stock is a Winchester stamped original WWII but has no cartouche stampings; just the W in the sling well.
This rifle bears the receiver stamping of QUALITY H W C 4614429 which dates manufacture from 10/'43 to 3/'44. All of the parts are stamped and identified as USGI except the oiler and butt plate, but not all are specific to this rifles date range or manufacturer yet fully functional. If all the parts were absolutely correct this Carbine would sell for more than twice my asking price.
Here is a list of the USGI manufacturer stamped parts : Barrel - UNDERWOOD 11-43, Barrel band SI (Inland), Bolt N on right lug and 8 on left lug (National Postal Meter), Extractor IN (Inland), Firing Pin NI (Inland), Front Sight N (Correct), Hammer WU (Underwood), Hand Guard (4 Rivet), Magazine GQ (Quality), Operating Slide N (Postal Meter), Magazine Release M, Rear Sight I.R. CO. (Quality), Receiver QUALITY HWC 4614429, Op Spring Tube Q (Quality), Recoil Plate DI (Inland), Safety E.I. (Inland), Sear RIA ( Is actually for M2 by Rock Island Armory), Stock W (Winchester), Trigger LT-Q (Quality), and Trigger Housing Inland inside frame. All springs, pins, and screws are M1 Carbine correct.
I use the book "Comprehensive Guide M1 Carbine" by R.C. Larson. The book has over 4,000 full color photos to help identify the manufacture, type or version, and parts used in specific date ranges. A must have for a M1 Carbine collector, buyer, or interested novice.
I don't sell junk. This rifle has no imported or imitation parts. I am somewhat knowledgeable about the M1 Carbine and have inspected and fired this rifle to assure its functionality. I have many more pictures and information I can email to an interested buyer. It comes with one original GQ stamped Quality Hardware magazine, reproduction oiler, sling, manual, and canvass case. I am also sure that the way this rifle looks and shoots it would be an attention getter at the range !!!
