Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Certified Check Description: This is an 1870's vintage Double Barrel Shotgun that just came to us from an estate. We don't normally buy early damascus doubles but this one was in such nice condition compared to ones we normally encounter, we couldn't pass it up. Made by E. James of Birmingham, England, its a side lever with Back Action Locks and Damascus Barrels. Keyed Forend that is nicely checkered along with the wrist. James name on both lockplates and top of barrel with street address. 12 Gauge. 30 Inch Barrels are Birmingham proofed and have dual "14" bore stamps so choked down a fair bit I would assume. Both bores are still fairly bright overall with no pitting...Fine Plus Overall. Barrels still show much of their original twist and browning. Action retains 30-40% fading original case colors. Very Good Plus to Fine English Walnut, sharp checkering, but one small chip missing on left edge of forearm. Front of forearm is tipped with Ebony. Brass escutcheon (shield) located on belly of stock. Iron mountings with average engraving. Nice example of a lower grade English shotgun made for the American market during the 1870's.
