Description:
This is a handsome short sword that measures 28 3/4" overall, with a 23 1/2" yataghan blade having wide, single fullers. The blade has a bright, original patina with only scattered trace freckling here and there, and has a few tiny nicks in the edge near the tip. The ricasso is marked with a serial number on the reverse (8739), and “ARTILLERIA / (Crown and crossed cannons) / FABRICA DE TOLEDO" etched onto the obverse. The steel hilt has a straight crossguard with reversed quillons, and the bird's head grip has fine checkered wooden grip panels that have some minor wear and flattening. The sword has no scabbard, but is in fine condition nevertheless.
