Description:
Serial #1815, 8.15 x 46R, 30" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. The barrel retains 70-75% of the original blue finish with an overall plum-brown tone along the edges of the flats, as well as mild surface freckling throughout. The barrel still has the original front sight fitted, the rear barrel sight (adjustable for eye-relief) is fitted to the barrel rail, and a small, unobtrusive import mark is present in the underside of the barrel just ahead of the forend tip. The visible portions of the receiver have sparse floral scroll engraving, and retain traces of the original color case-hardening, with bright gray metal on the balance that also has spots of dark freckling scattered about. The wrist tang sight mount is vacant, however the correct rear sight is still present and included. The unusual one-piece walnut stock has a small rack number on an elliptical plaque at the nose of the forend: “3", a rounded cheek-piece with hooked butt, and a further small number plaque at the toe: “16". The double-set triggers are mechanically sound, and have a crisp release. This is an unusual Martini rifle with one-piece stock, and rates very good-fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
