Here we present a Velodog-style Revolver, made circa 1900 in Liege, Belgium. The Velodog was a French design by Charles-François Galand specifically made for carry by cyclists to defend themselves against dogs. In fact, the name “Velodog” combines the word “Velocipede” or bicycle with “Dog”. There were certainly cartridges loaded with conventional projectiles but some were loaded with less than lethal payloads like wood or even cayenne pepper. There are various Belgian proof marks on the rear of the cylinder and on the right side of the barrel and frame. Overall condition is fine. Original blue remains on the cylinder & barrel. Case colors on the frame are vibrant. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in good condition. The bore is sharply rifled and clean. The action is excellent. Here is an interesting little revolver for bikers self-protection against dogs! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 2-1/8 inches. Caliber: 8mm Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $650 #7057 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
