This is a spectacular example of this rare Diamondback variation. This Colt Diamondback is serial number R11175 and was manufactured in 1977 and features a beautiful factory nickel finish with a 4" inch barrel. Very few Diamondbacks were made in this configuration and pristine unfired examples are seldom on the market. This particular gun was bought new and put in storage until now, it has not been fired since being test fired at the factory. The spectacular factory nickel finish rates 99% plus, with no scratches, wear, or handling marks. The only deduction we can find is if you look very very closely you can see an extremely faint turn line where the action was worked by hand at some point. Otherwise, this Diamondback is exactly how it left the factory. The bore is pristine as are the cylinder bores. The rifling shows sharp lands and grooves you would expect to see in an unfired gun. The original checkered Walnut factory grips are in excellent, like-new condition as well. They are free from any signs of wear with perfect checkering, and the gold finished Rampant Colt medallions are in excellent condition. This beautiful Colt comes with the original box, all the paperwork, the triggerguard hang tag, and the factory Colt sight tool. The box is in great shape overall, as are the Styrofoam inserts. The factory end label is still intact and in good shape but the hand written info is faded. The original hand written serial number, caliber, etc. are very faint but they are there. If you have been looking for a top quality 4" factory nickel Colt Diamondback .38 Special it would be nearly impossible to find a better example than this one. This is truly an advanced collector-quality Colt that would be a "centerpiece" Diamondback variation in any collection.
