Octagon barrel with lots of original blue, crescent buttplate. Strong bore with no pitting or other issues. Missing the ladder for the rear sight, the previous owner put a piece of hard plastic in there. The initials ELW have been carved into the buttstock on the right side above the lever. Normal wear commensurate with usage on the frontier overall. I looked closely and can't see any cracks in the wood. A couple of screws look to have been replaced long, long ago. The rifle seems to be tight and fully functional, but of course if you plan on shooting it you should have it checked out by a gunsmith. Manufactured in 1902, so it is not an antique. There are traces of original case color in protected areas. In order to protect your investment, all long guns over $500 must be shipped in a hard case. Minimum shipping at this level is $55 and includes the hard case. Shipping cost could increase depending on value or weight of the firearm. For long guns less than $500, we still recommend the purchase of a hard case, again to protect your investment. These numbers are for shipping to the lower 48. There is also a 3% surcharge for customers using a credit card on internet sales. Thank you! SOLD |
