Manufactured for only 3 years from 2004 to 2006, the Winchester Model 70 Stealth 2 rifle is a scarce gun in any caliber. This example is serial number G2537873 and is chambered in super-fast .223 Winchester Super Short Magnum making it even more scarce. It is all-original and in excellent condition overall. The Winchester Model 70 Stealth 2 features a matte blue finish with a push feed action with a 26" heavy varmint profiled barrel with no iron sights. The action is drilled and tapped for optics and the stock is a redesign of the original Stealth stock made of hand-laid fiberglass with imbedded aluminum action pillars. The Stealth 2 was offered in several short action calibers including the super-short magnums. The Model 70 Stealth 2 rifle quickly earned a reputation for being one of the best factory post-'64 varmint rifles that Winchester has made, constructed with the best materials with great attention to detail and capable of extreme accuracy. This rifle is in .223 WSSM, so the internal magazine with a hinged floorplate has a 3-round capacity. It came out of a collection of mostly unfired guns that were stored in overfilled safes, where many of them acquired some dings and nicks from beinged into other guns in the safes. This particular Winchester appears to have been fired a handful of times at the very most. The finish rates 97% plus with the deductions coming from some very light finish wear on the side of the bolt from being worked by hand, some very small storage marks in the stock, and a scratch in the floorplate. As you can see from the pictures, the rifle has a very clean and attractive "nearly-new" look to it overall. The bore in this rifle is pristine and bright. The rifling shows sharp lands and grooves and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible whatsoever. The stock on this rifle is exceptional. Not only is it very good looking but it is extremely solid and well built. It is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs and comes with the factory installed recoil pad as well as 3 sling swivel studs. The additional factory top sling stud is a mounting point for a bipod. The length of pull on this rifle is 13.5 inches to the end of the pad. This rifle weighs 10 pounds 2 ounces unloaded without optics due to the heavy barrel and heavy fiberglass stock. The .223 Winchester Super Short Magnum cartridge that this rifle is chambered in is truly a "rocket ship" .22 caliber cartridge! With a 40 grain bullet this cartridge reaches speeds of 4300 plus feet per second. Winchester advertised this round as the fastest commercial .22 caliber cartridge in the world with some factory loaded ammo available clocking in at over 4600 fps! The .223 WSSM is a perfect varmint round in this rifle for long range shooting with very little felt recoil. This Winchester Stealth 2 comes with the original box with an intact end-label serial numbered to the rifle. All the paperwork is also included as well as the marketing hang-tags and the factory provided gun lock. If you have been looking for a unique and cool varmint/target rifle to add to your collection this rifle would be an excellent choice. It is a scarce Winchester model in an even scarcer caliber and should be an excellent long term investment as well.
