Description:
This is a very clean 1976-vintage Remington Model 742BDL Deluxe Woodsmaster semi-auto rifle in .30-06 caliber complete with with a 3-9x40 Marlin-branded scope.  This rifle is in excellent all-original condition overall, and most likely has spent the vast majority of it's life in storage.  The Remington Model 742BDL Deluxe Woodsmaster was made from 1966 to 1980 and was the finest variation that the Remington firm made of this particular model.  This 742BDL Deluxe features a factory high gloss blue finish on the "step" style receiver and balance of metal parts, a 22" inch barrel with factory adjustable iron sights, a deluxe Monte Carlo-style Walnut stock set with a basket-weave checkered pistol grip and forearm and a left-handed cheekpiece, a black pistol grip cap, forend tip, and Remington branded buttplate with a white spacer, and a 4-round detachable box magazine.  As mentioned before, the rifle is in great shape overall.  The factory blue finish rates 97 to 98%, with only a few tiny handling marks.  The bore is minty and bright, with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling no zero visible imperfections whatsoever.  The stock set is in great shape overall with no cracks, repairs, or major damage.  The areas of the stock set that show the most age or wear is the ebony tip of the forearm and the black pistol grip cap where some of the factory clear coat is flaking off.  The balance of the stock has some minor handling and storage marks but nothing that detracts much from the attractive and clean overall appearance of this Woodsmaster.  All of the controls on this rifle function perfectly and the action is smooth and tight.  The bolt goes into battery with authority and the trigger is quite good, breaking with a light and consistent pull.  This Model 742BDL Deluxe Woodsmaster comes with a Weaver base and rings already mounted up with a period Japanese-made Marlin Model 900A scope.  The scope is a 3 to 9 power with a 40mm objective lens and it has a 3-post reticle.  The center post is pointed and comes from the bottom of the sight picture with 2 horizontal pointed posts coming from either side and meeting in the middle.  This is commonly referred to as a sniper reticle from the use of this reticle by German snipers in World War 2.  The optics in this scope are bright and clear.  The lenses are free from any cracks, chips, or scratches.  All the adjustments work properly but the windage and elevation adjustments are hard to turn.  It should hold zero just fine.  This rifle also comes with a high-quality and classy Bianchi "Cobra" leather sling that has a basket-weave pattern on it that matches the rifle nicely.  If you have been looking for a cool vintage factory left-handed rifle for your collection, this beautiful 742BDL Deluxe Woodsmaster would be an excellent choice!  Price reduced!
