The American Plains Indian created some wonderful art pieces from natural material gathered from hunted animals.
This lovely 19th century antique Buffalo medicine horn is covered with period Victorian style cloth and decorated all around with quill work. It's a very solid piece, nothing is coming apart. It shows wonderful age patina. The cloth and quill work show wear from age and handling and the purple dye is faded. Quill work is mostly red & white in color with some purple and a little yellow is present.
Condition is very good. From tip to tip it measures 13".
