We are over the top proud to offer this stunning master engraved work of art in the form of a Colt Frontier Six Shooter, decked out in ivory grips and gold trim. Made in the year of our Lord 1891, she will ship direct to your door. We often don't have much history on collector guns, but we do have some facts on this wheel gun. It was engraved in 1970 by master engraver D.B. Marshall of Hazelton, PA. It was ordered, presumably by Gale Krause of Chicago, to present to her husband, Harold, on their 25th wedding anniversary in 1971. No efforts were spared, as this beauty has some extremely detailed engraving. Not only are the screw heads engraved, but the exposed butt ends are, as well. Gold band highlights are everywhere, providing a wonderful contrast to the rich, deep blue. Even the trigger guard is nicely engraved, as is the loading gate, front sight, and ejector handle. The grips are smooth ivory, just beginning to show some age cracking. One very small loss, due to normal grain separation, occurred at the back of the left panel. One thing is certain, I failed to capture the true beauty of this Colt in photographs. So, if you like what you see, you will be even happier with it in your hands. She is in great condition, with a very crisp action and tight lockup at full cock. The bore of the gunfighter length 4 3/4 inch barrel is good, with plenty of shine and strong rifling. Not bad for the black powder era. The markings are good, as is the hammer knurling. The previous owner stated that the engraver left his signature on the frame under the trigger guard, and I have no reason to doubt that. The wooden case is in very good shape, too. Engraved first generation Colts are an investment as sound as gold, and this gun is no exception. It is literally one of the best I have seen after examining dozens in the last few years. The 44-40 Frontier Six Shooter is on fire in the SAA market, as it was the only of the 36 calibers to have a special name, and much lower production than the 45. If you have been looking for the right Single Action Army to collect or for investment, but want the added clout of an antique Six Shooter decked out with engraving and ivories, then look no further.
