Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are very proud to offer this beautiful example of a Darne double decked out with lots of engraving and nicely figured walnut. These dainty shotguns have quite a worldwide following, and it is easy to see why. They stand out from all others because of the unique sliding breach. Eliminating the barrels from "breaking" makes sense, with a simple pull on the "ears" to open the action, and a push to close. Empties are "ejected", falling out sideways, loaded rounds stay in place. Perhaps best of all, this shotgun tips the scales at about 6 1/4 pounds. Add lots of highly detailed engraving, even onto the barrels, and you have a great high grade double. She is in good condition, with only minor handling marks. The blue is strong, the receiver looks great, and the wood is all there with crisp checkering. The bores of the 70cm barrels are bright, choked at 35 and 20 thousandths. The drops are 1 1/2 and 2 1/4 inches, with an LOP of 14 inches. She is a pleasure to carry and point, and looks good doing it. I am not certain of the grade, so feel free to give me some insight. If you have been looking for the right Darne to collect, shoot, or for investment, then look no further. For value comparison, look at listing 101134671 . It has the same one piece stock and about the same level of engraving, less the gold. With a chopped and glued stock, their price is 6500.
