LONG Barreled S&W .32 Safety Hammerless REVOLVER
Made Circa 1909 in Springfield
Here we present a Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless 2nd Model Revolver, manufactured circa 1909 in Springfield, Massachusetts. They were also known as the “New Departure” or the “Lemon Squeezer”, the latter due to the safety bar on the backstrap. This little revolver holds 5 shots of .32 S&W. It was designed to meet the defensive needs of citizens and law enforcement in the late 19th Century. This is a top break design with an automatic ejector, hammerless design and grip safety. These features made it great for pocket carry.
This S&W Revolver has a scarce, 6-inch barrel that is rather long for a small hammerless revolver. It features a fine nickel finish with hard rubber grips. The top of the barrel is marked ‘SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS U.S.A./PAT’D FEBY 20 77. DEC.18.77. MAY 11.80. SEPT.11.83.OCT.2.83. TWO AUG.4.85’.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is 90%. The case colors on the trigger have darkened with age. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The hard rubber grips are in great shape. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic .32 S&W Lemon Squeezer with lots of panache!
