Description:
Replica – “Old Reliable” Sharps Sporting Rifle by Sile, with a falling-block action chambered for 45-70 Government, checkered walnut stock and forend, 28-inch octagon barrel.  The barrel diameter at the muzzle is barely shy of an inch, with barrel walls approximately ¼ inch.  The weight of the gun is 9 pounds, 6 ounces.  The LOP is 14 inches.  The drop at comb is about 1 ¾ inches; the drop at the heel is about 2 ½ inches.

The finish on metal and wood is all original.  Barrel bluing is 99+ percent, as is the case-hardened colors of the receiver. I hesitate to call anything not new-in-box 100 percent.  Neither barrel nor receiver show any signs of wear.  The walnut stock and forend are similarly 99+, showing no wear or marks.  The checkering is crisp and deep and also shows no wear or marks.  The stock has a metal butt plate with case-hardened colors.

The top side of the barrel, four inches in front of the rear sight, is stamped “Old Reliable.”  Just in front of the rear sight, also on the top side, is stamped “U.S. SHARPS RIFLE CO, MERIDEN, CONN”.  On the side to the left of the barrel top is stamped “CAL.45/70.US.GOV”.  On the side to the right of the barrel top is stamped “SILE NEW YORK, N.Y.”  The left side of the receiver is stamped “C.SHARPS PAT SEPT 12TH 1848”.  On the right side of the receiver is stamped “C.SHARPS PAT OCT 5TH 1852”.  The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.  Contact me for additional photos or even higher resolution versions the posted pictures.

The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($40) and insurance, if insurance is desired.  I will accept a personal check which I will hold until it clears.  I will also accept a USPS money order which I do not have to hold, as it clears immediately.  Must ship to FFL.
