This is a used model 70 Youth Ranger, with a 20 inch barrel, chambered in 243 Winchester. With a Featherweight barrel contour, free floated, from the front of the receiver.
The stock is in good condition. Over-all, the rifle; is in good, to excellent, condition.
The action is tight, & smooth. It is a Push Feed model 70. The barrel has had the front site removed, it was soldered on, a flat spot, on the top of the barrel. There is a picture of the flat spot on the barrel. It isn’t really even noticeable. The guy who traded the rifle said: The front site, put a serious glare in the scope, when he was looking into the sun. That is unquestionably; true.
The rear sight slot, has a Marble slot blank in it.
The barrel & receiver have a gloss blue finish, which is in pretty good shape, but there is a thin spot on the barrel, just a little past the end of the fore arm, & a little spot on the top of the receiver, where in meets the stock, on the pistol grip.
This rifle has the original; model 70 Winchester trigger. The most bullet proof, ingenious trigger, ever built, on any action, anywhere, anytime. It has an excellent trigger; set at 3 pounds; & has no after travel. The safety, is silky smooth.
The trigger guard, & floor plate, are like new. The bottom metal screws; have been converted from the straight slot, to hex head.
The barrel has been cleaned, & bore scoped. It is spotlessly clean, & looks good. The throat, & the lead-in, on the lands; are in pretty good condition. The previous owner told us; it shoots a 1.5" 5 shot group, at 100 yards, with good ammunition. That is pretty average, for just about ANY Winchester Featherweight barrel.
This is really nice; New Haven made Winchester, in an excellent caliber.
