This particular model 53 was manufactured in 1930 and has survived the subsiquent 80 years very well. Mechanical condition is excellent as is the condition of the wood. There is a small chip on the left side of the tang (see pictures) and light scratches. The 22in bbl is in good condition with excellent blue on it, a slight area of pitting is present near the muzzle but no rusting or lack of blue finish. The bore is excellent with deep and bright rifling as seen in pictures. The receiver has most of the original blue finish but most of the bottom has been replaced with patina over the years, as have the sides. The loading gate is still bright blue finish with little to no wear or lack of finish. The fore end cap has loss of finish and patina but is in excellent structural conidtion and is complete. Only 24,000 or so model 53's were produced making them one of the rare modern Winchester Levers. New Year's Sale!
