GORGEOUS CASE COLORED ANTIQUE SERIAL NUMBER 1893 .38-55 OCTAGON TAKEDOWN RIFLE, #170XXX, MADE 1898. Simply, one of the best I’ve seen in a long while- especially in the antique serial range. Vivid case color on the receiver sides, top, bottom and upper tang! Rich deep blue on the barrel, mag tube, loading gate and forend cap with only the lightest of edge wear.. Even the butt plate shows some good aged case color as does the lever. Exc. wood with most of the original finish remaining, tight takedown with only a few very minor dings by the takedown lever on the bottom of the receiver. Needs the little takedown retaining screw in the bottom of the mag tube at the muzzle only. Minty bore and original buckhorn rear sight paired with the original Rocky Mountain blade front sight. About as nice as you could ever hope to find with an antique serial number! True investment quality.
