Description:
This is a very nice Winchester Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine in .44 RF CALIBER. Serial Number #156797, manufactured in 1882. .44 RF Caliber. 20" round barrel with full magazine a very sharp bore showing strong rifling with some light pitting in spots. . Metal is all dark brown to blue patina. The Brass frame is a pleasing mellow patina. The lever shows a dark brown patina. The hammer shows a trace of case coloring. . Markings remain very good. The smooth walnut forend and straight grip carbine buttstock remain in about very good condition having darkened from the years with mostly worn finish, scattered small dings, scratches and handling marks. The carbine is sighted with a folding rear ladder sight marked from "2" to "9". Top of ladder is marked "1873". Front is tapered blade integral base fixed to the top of the barrel.
