Most young shooters are unaware that these Deluxe (ADL) 336 Marlins were intended to compete with Winchesters Deluxe Model 64's and actually sold for more than the 64 Deluxe.Like the 64's these were also checkered and similarly had Winchster Super Grade type Sling Swivels (this one has the correct swivels which are known to sell for over 100.00 a pair) and what may be the original sling (a little tired). Overall condition is good or possibly better, both blue and wood somewhere around 80% or perhaps a bit under. there are no splits, no repairs and not damage except age and careful use (not abused) It has Ballard rifleing and of course is JM trademarked.
It has a waffle top (correct) and NOT drilled and tapped. The rear site has been replaced with a site blank and a Willimas Rear Site has been installed on the barrel just behind the site blank. If someone did not like the Williams it could be removed and filler screws installed to be unobtrusive and barely noticiable. These are the only non factory modification.

336's were lst introduced in 1948 and this gun was made in 1951 only 3 years into the very long production of these (336 Marlins) which are still being made today although of lesser quality. In 1956 the configuration of the stock set was changed and the later stocks were said to have been produced by or designed by the stock company Bishop.
Own a handsome useable piece of history for not very much $$
32 Winchester Special is very similar balistically to the 30 30.
