Description:
This National Postal Meter manufactured M1 Carbine is another example of a WWII survivor.  NPM produced the 4th fewest M1 Carbines during WWII totalling 413,017.  This lower number makes them slightly more desireable to collectors.  M1 Carbine parts manufactured by NPM were the receivers, bolts, trigger housings, and operating slides.  Barrels were supplied by six primary suppliers and the stocks and hand guards were made by Trimble Nursery and Furniture Company.  The rifle I am selling here has all of the correct USGI parts specific to the date of manufacture and serial number range for this specific rifle.  I have verified the validity of all components based on information and pictures published in the book by R.C. Larson titled "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine".  This book is a must have if you are at all interested in M1 Carbines.
The over all cosmetic condition of the original Trimble TN stamped stock and Hand Guard are very good.  They have been refinished to original but have no remaining cartouche marks evident; just the supplier stampings.  The barrel is the Buffalo Arms 9-1943 Flaming Bomb stamped original with proof stampings further down the barrel.  Internally the barrel is shiny and the riflings and lans look good for a barrel this age.  The remainder of the parts look used; but not abused, as expected for it's age.  The rifle functions, feeds, and fires consistantly.
The parts are identifiable as follows : Barrel - BUFFALO ARMS 9-1943 Flaming Bomb, Barrel Band - Type I 3 weld w/Type II UN Swivel, Bolt - N 11 flat blued Type II, Butt Plate - 4 dot top row & 2 dot bottom row, Extractor - N, Firing Pin - NN, Front Sight - N Type I, Hammer - H.I. Type III, Hand Guard - TN Type II 2 rivet shallow groove, Magazines - MN & TN, Magazine Catch - MN Type III, Oiler - IS, Operating Slide N15 Type IV, Op Slide Stop - Early Type, Op Spring Guide - Flat Tip, Rear Sight - TN on right & S on left Type I, Receiver - NATIONAL POSTAL METER 4147113, Recoil Plate - LN Type III, Recoil Screw & Escutcheon are correct, Safety - SN Type III, Sear - SW-N Type I, Khaki Sling is likely reproduction, Stock - TRIMBLE TN Type II low wood oval cut, Trigger - SN Type II, Trigger Housing - N 14 Type II.  All other pins, springs, and screws are correct.  More pictures upon request !
This is a rifle you can shoot and brag about and not worry about it wearing out.  It comes with two original magazines, reproduction zippered canvass case, and field manual.
Transaction must comply with all state and federal firearms sales and shipping regulations.  Accepted payment of either USPS Money Order or Certified Check.  Must be shipped to a valid FFL or C&R Permit Holder.  Buyer pays $40 shipping cost to any of the 48 contiguous states.   Rifle carries no implied or expressed warranty.
