Mid-19th Century Single Shot Self-Defense Pistol
Here we present an antique Blunt & Syms Sidehammer Belt Pistol, manufactured circa the mid-19th Century in New York, New York. This is one of the most recognizable American pistols of the pre-Civil War period. Many pistols like this saw service as person weapons in the Civil War as well as in the gold fields of California and on the western frontier.
The top of the barrel is marked “B&S/NEW YORK/CAST STEEL”.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a dark gray patina. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in in good shape. The bore is dark. The action on this pistol is strong.
