Here is a very pretty and rare Mauser Model 66 “Diplomat” by Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndorf in the desirable 8 X 68 S Caliber (8X68S Cal). Made in Germany. Barrel Length is 25.5”. LOP is 14.75”. Overall Length is approximately 43.75”. The stock is very good to excellent with some handling marks and dents present. The checkering is very good to excellent. The matte blued barrel is excellent with approximately 98%+ bluing throughout. This rifle features a really beautiful engraving consisting of three elk or stags on the left side, and is all accompanied by a nice natural setting and floral motif. The right side has a name etched in gold surrounded by a floral motif. The triggerguard has loss to the finish. The rifle features a top loading magazine, ramp mounted folding leaf read sight, ramp mounted front sight, proof marks and import marks, quick detach German claw mounts, Adjustable Double Set Triggers, the Model 66 rear bolt safety, right handed cheek-piece, stock sling swivels with a nice leather German sling, and Pachmayr White Line rubber butt-pad. The scope is a Carl Zeiss Diavari - 1.5 - 6 X with clear and excellent optics. The bore is excellent. Mechanically excellent.
