Description:
Inv. 6790    Colt U.S. Mdl.1875 Artillery, Cal. 45 Long Colt. Barrel 5 1/2". Ser. 18624 (1875 1875).This one has it all, condition and rarity. It is one of less 17,000.

7 1/2" barrel Artillery models that were returned to Springfield Arsenal or Colt for a compete rebuild and shortening of the barrel 2". The gun retains about 35%-40% of the original blue. All of the guns were made up mixed numbers since all parts came from salvaged Army guns selected for rebuild.

The blue loss there is, is  due to some sharp edge silvering but mainly from to holster wear. There are no rust spots, pin pricks, rub marks or scratches anywhere. The Case Colored frame is even nicer, at the very least 90+%.  Again with no blemishes. Because of the level of the blue and case color this gun was refinished by Colt. Springfield did not refinish after re assembly.

The walnut grips do not have any finish remaining, but are not chipped or split any way. They do have some pressure marks and a few small dings. The bottom  of the left grip is stamped "RAC" for the final rebuild inspector Rinaldo  A. Carr. The cylinder face, chambers and force cone have no evidence of ever being fired . The rear of the cylinder is inspector stamped K and R. The bottom of the barrel has "P" stamped twice about a 1/2" a part. The second "P" is the Colt rebuild proof. The gun locks up tight, indexes properly and the hammer clicks four times. The bore is mirror bright, with razor sharp rifling.

There is no frost anywhere. The cylinder face and bore show no evidence of ever having a bullet pass thru them. The trigger guard is numbered 2150, the grip strap 6894.

This "Holster Queen" will be the centerpiece of your collection and certainly a great investment opportunity. .Drastically Reduced.......$6,895. Shipped.
