Description:
This is considered by most to be the ultimate Mosin Nagant rifle ever mass produced, the Finnish Model 39.  In the 1930's the Finnish Military decided to standardize and improve on the several Mosin M91 variants they were producing at the time.  The end result was the Model 1939 or M39 which combined all of the best features of the rifles already in inventory into one rifle.  The M39 would soon prove to be a superb battle rifle for the Finns and well respected by any force that faced them.  This particular M39 is a WW2 1942 example made by VKT.  It is all-matching and all-original.  All of the numbered parts are matching and the blue finish is factory original.  The blued finish has been worn to a gray patina in most of the exposed areas but remains strong in protected areas.  As you can see in the pictures provided, it has a great battel-used look to it.  These rifles were in combat for years in arctic conditions so to have any original blue finish on them is nice.  The bore is in good shape overall.  The rifling still looks strong and sharp, with some minor light pitting in the grooves.  The original wartime-production rounded finger-joint construction hardwood stock is in great shape overall.  It still has a nice manufacturer's proof stamp on the right side of the butt, and is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage.  It has plenty of small handling marks that you would expect a combat-used rifle to have but no major damage.  Everything on this rifle works 100% like it did the day it left the factory.  All of the controls work perfectly and the bolt goes into battery perfectly with no slop.  This M39 is import marked in very small letters on the underside of the barrel "Intac" which was an importer in Tennessee.  There is a close up picture of this stamp provided to show how unobtrusive it is compared to the recent imports marked on the receiver.  If you have been looking for a nice all-original Finnish M39 that actually saw battle, this example would be an excellent choice.
