Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1950, .22 S/L/LR, LOP 13 3/8"
Serial Number: 124546

The Winchester Model 61 pump action rifle was brought to market in 1932 and was made through 1963, so all Model 61 rimfire rifles are “PRE ‘64” Winchesters.  Winchester brought the practical and fun-to-shoot pump action multi-shot .22 rimfire rifle to the public in 1890 in the Model 1890 rimfire rifle with an exposed hammer.  The Model 1890 was followed by similar exposed hammer pump guns called the Model 1906 and then the Model 62 which was in production until 1958.  Remington came out with a sleek internal hammer .22 rimfire in 1909, the Model 12, that captured the public’s attention and a strong portion of the market place.  It soon became apparent that Winchester was going to have to come up with something that did not look so “vintage” as the exposed hammer guns, and the Model 61 was the gun.  The Winchester Model 61 being offered here, sn124546 built in 1950, is a superb example of a factory original, 99% in all ways, .22 rimfire capable of firing the short, long, or long rifle .22 rounds.  The little rifle has seen little use, as is evidenced by the 99% blue on the butt plate, barrel, magazine tube, and receiver.  The bore is perfect mirror shiny with sharp clean rifling.  The wood has only a few small handling marks with no cracks or repairs and nothing of significance.  Finding a fine Winchester Model 61 that is 68 years old and looks as new, with all factory original finishes, is an opportunity to invest in a collectible rifle that is a joy to shoot and will continue to grow in value as you enjoy its use.  This rifle is priced on the low side for a quick sale, so compare it to others you will see on the internet, realize that it is a great buy being so clean and crisp, and don’t hesitate as it will be gone soon.  Thanks for looking!
