NICE INDIAN WARS SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1866 SECOND ALLIN CONVERSION TRAPDOOR .50-70 GOVT. CAL INFANTRY RIFLE. All original and complete with all the original parts. 36” barrel with original sights. Lock plate stamped “1865” (correctly), and “EAGLE/US/SPRINGFIELD”. Breech block stamped “1866/ORDNANCE EAGLE HEAD”. Very good overall with lock and hammer having much of the even grey color casehardening. Breech block with oil quenched dark grey-black case hardening. Barrel with light grey patina. Stock with the original finish with wear and very minor small hairlines at both lock plate screw heads. Cartouche no longer visible-a dark smudge. Excellent plus bore and perfect working order. Nice example.
