Description:
AYA 16 Gauge Shotgun
No. 4/53, 28" IC/M, 99%, SPECIAL ORDER WOOD

General Specs: AYA, Year 2006, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 071-06

From the AyA : The N° 4 has been AYA’s standard boxlock design since 1960. It is modelled on a Westley Richards boxlock action, brought to Spain by the King brothers. The Anson & Deeley action, the most famous of all boxlock designs, was created by two employees of Westley Richards in 1875, and ever since, Westley Richards guns have defined boxlock elegance.  When reviewing this gun, sn071-06 built in 2006, it is a fine upland gun indeed.  Weighing 6 1/2lbs.  and balanced perfectly ¼” ahead of the hinge pin, you can carry this gun all day with little fatigue.  The 16ga. chambering is known to be deadly on pheasants, grouse, quail, dove, woodcock and all upland game, with the old saying that it “carries like a 20 and shoots like a 12” being quite literal.  The 16ga. is considered a “square load”, just as high in the shot cup as it is round, and it is known for short shot strings and extraordinary killing patterns.  The condition is 99% factory with just a little wear on the forend latch.  This gun was special ordered with upgraded wood showing a ½ round pistol grip and a semi-beavertail forend, highly figured and a deep, rich chocolate brown color.  Shipped with its original box, you are basically getting a new gun at used gun prices (same gun new is about $6200).  The 28" barrels are of the chopper lump design, long heralded as the very best method of joining the barrels and utilized mostly in "BEST GUNS" from the likes of Purdey and Holland & Holland.  The receiver retains 99% bone and charcoal case color and is in perfect mechanical condition, with strong well-timed ejectors and crisp double triggers.  These are known to be highly reliable guns, and this one has the very best wood you will ever see on a Model 4/53, and we all love good wood, don’t we!
