ANTIQUE S&W .38 Safety Hammerless REVOLVER
Circa 1892 Featuring Beautiful Pearl Grips
Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless 3rd Model Revolver, manufactured circa 1892 in Springfield, Massachusetts. They were also known as the “New Departure” or the “Lemon Squeezer”, the latter due to the safety bar on the backstrap. This little revolver holds 5 shots of .38 S&W. It was designed to meet the defensive needs of citizens and law enforcement in the late 19th Century. This is a top break design with an automatic ejector, hammerless design and grip safety. These features made it great for pocket carry.
This S&W Revolver features a blued finish with pearl grips. The top of the barrel is marked ‘SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS U.S.A./PAT’D FEBY 20 77. DEC.18.77. MAY 11.80. SEPT.11.83.OCT.2.83. TWO AUG.4.85’
The overall condition is very good. The original blue finish is 45%. The case colors on the trigger are thinning. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The pearl grips are in very good condition. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic .38 S&W Lemon Squeezer with lots of panache!
