Description:
This Philidelphia-made A.H. Fox was made around 1913 and was considered a very fine gun then as it is now.  It was probably owned by a quail hunter as the barrels have been shortened to 26 & 1/8ths inches from the likely 28" inch original length.  This is our best guess as both barrels still have .015" inches (Improved Cylinder) choke in them.  The chambers are 2.75" inches long and the barrels still have an ivory bead front sight and ivory mid-bead.  The finish on this Fox is factory original and still shows some nice case colors in the protected areas and faint colors on the main flats.  The original blue finish on the barrels and trigger guard rate 85 to 90% with some scattered spots of light finish wear and some small rust marks.  The pictures provided should give you a great sense of the overall attractive look of this fine double gun.  The engraving is in excellent condition including two flying quail on the receiver.  The original stock has a 14" inch length of pull over a 1" inch pad.  The drop measures 2" inches at the comb and 3.25" inches at the heel.  The gun weighs just under 7lbs and is nicely balanced.  The overall condition of this "B" Grade is quite good.  The bores are both mirror bright and free from any major dents or imperfections, and the action locks up extremely tight and "on face".  If you wish to own a classic American side by side for bird hunting this Fox would be a perfect choice.
