Description:
This is a Saiga Model IZ-114 otherwise known as an AK-74 Sporter Rifle. This high-quality Russian made weapon uses a Kalashnikov type action with a 20" inch barrel in a matte black finish. Imported for only a couple of years at first between 2002 and 2004, they were re-introduced in 2006. The re-introduction was short-lived however as the importation Saiga Sporters were banned by the Obama administration in 2014, and as a result these cool rifles have become quite sought-after with the 5.45x39 caliber models becoming particularly collectible. This example is one of the more scarce and sought-after models, an Izhmash-manufactured Saiga Model IZ-114 (AK-74 Sporter Rifle) chambered in the Eastern-bloc equivalent of the 5.56 Nato/.223 Remington cartidge, the 5.45x39 cartridge. This Siaga is in excellent all-original condition and has not been altered in any way since arriving in the States. Before the importation of these rifles ended it was quite common for shooters to convert these rifles to standard AK-style carbines so unaltered examples are somewhat uncommon. As mentioned before these Saiga Sporters are very well-made guns. They are constructed of heavy-gauge steel stamped receivers and feature top-quality Russian-made internal parts and excellent precision-made Russian barrels with chrome-lined bores. As far as AK's go, this thing is as tough as they get and super reliable and accurate. This model comes with a integral quick release sight base on the left side of the receiver, an elevation-adjustable rear sight, and a windage and elevation adjustable front sight post with protective ears. Another feature that is not often seen on standard AK style rifles and carbines that this Saiga has is a bolt hold-open button/tab on the bottom of the receiver to the right of the front trigger guard. You can see this in the pictures provided, it is gray in color and simple in operation; pull the bolt back and depress the tab. The finish on this Saiga rates a conservative 96 to 97%. There are no major spots of wear or dings, only some very small handling/storage marks visible under close inspection. The bore is minty and bright in this rifle, the rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves and there are zero imperfections visible. It has certainly not been fired much, maybe a magazine or two at most since leaving the factory. The original factory black synthetic stock set is in excellent condition. It is free from cracks, chips, repairs, or major imperfections. There are a few tiny handling amrks if you look closely but nothing that detracts from the clean looks of this sporter AK. The stock set comes with sling swivels factory installed and the original military-type sling is in place and in great shape. All of the controls and the action on this Saiga are in 100% perfect working order. The bolt goes into battery with authority and the safety lever locks into both positions properly. This AK-74 Sporter comes with one factory original 10-rd magazine in excellent condition. If you have been looking to add one of these neat Saigas to your collection it would be hard to find an example in better condition than this one that is 100% original and un-messed with. This Saiga should prove to be an excellent long-term investment as well as a blast to take to the range or farm.
