Description:
Here is an unopened box of 25 Brass shotgun shells purchased under U.S. Contract probably sometime between the 1930s and the end of WWII.  There are no other markings on the box that are legible except for this facing side as shown.  The back side has an ink impression of lettering from another box that would have been stored with it for a long time but is essentially illegible.  This box is made from a kind of wax paper lined with foil on the inside for protection from the elements.  It shows some wear and staining, and has some light separation at the bottom seam but is unopened and from what I can tell the shells have not been exposed to the elements.  Before shipping I will wrap in shrink wrap to keep it all together during the trip.

The lot number on this box is very close to the box illustrated in a couple of places in Canfield's Combat Shotguns book, and he attributes his box to be 1930s.  There is no way for me to tell whether these shells are of the sawtooth or a smooth crimp style.  This box is difficult to price, but one shell of the sawtooth variety is being listed at the time of this listing for $85 on another site.   This ammo would be appropriate to display with Winchester 1897, 12, Stevens 520-30, 620, or Ithaca 37 etc.  Insured shipping will be $25.
