Description:
Lever G Grade 16 Gauge - UNMOLESTED, ORIGINAL, CONDITION, NICE!

Description:
Lefever G Grade 16 Gauge SxS Shotgun
UNMOLESTED, ORIGINAL, CONDITION, NICE!

General Specs: Lefever, Year 1904, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 8oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 48199

Most who pursue Classic American Double shotguns know that Lefever Arms Co. of Syracuse, N.Y. produced elegant shotguns.  The first of the prominent American double  manufacturers to close its doors (1914), Lefever produced relatively few fine doubles; in the range of 60.000 guns.  Mr. Elliot’s book “Uncle Dan Lefever—Master Gunmaker” notes only about 960 G Grade 16 bore guns being made.  Low production, classic American double indeed!  Most of the Lefever guns you find, especially the lower grade guns, are well worn and beat up.  This gun, sn48199 built in 1904 has been well maintained and has excellent screws, superb wood to metal fit, at least 80% of the damascus pattern remains, about 20% case color, great checkering, excellent bores and wall thickness in the barrels, and it is all factory original...umolested in the 111 years it has been in use.  Best yet, this one is built on their smaller 20ga. frame as evidenced by the "X X" stamping on the water table of the reciever.  Lefever small bores with condition will always have more demand than supply, and hence this gun is not only a joy to behold, take afield, and shoot, but also a grand investment vehicle to increase the value of your estate as you enjoy its use.
