This M-1 Carbine is a Saginaw "SG" was mfg from 5/43 to 5/44. I would estimate this one as being mfg about 6/43. It has mostly WWII parts and the following is an inventory of them: Receiver - Saginaw SG (On back of the receiver), Rear Sight H1, Bolt Flat w/"SG" and components, Trigger HSG - Inland w/mixed unmarked parts, Safety - UM, Mag Catch - UM, Oper Slide - p ?, Stock - "O" in sling well, Recoil Plate - UM, Hand Guard - "IO", Barrel Band T-3, Butt Plate - Inl. The magzine is not included.
These Saginaw SG and Saginaw Gear Divisions accoding to my information swapped parts around the beginning of the Sag SG takeover of Irwin Peterson in Grand Rapids, MI. There is to me some confusion about the exact timing and parts movement. Inland Div of GMC also may have played a part in this, I'm not sure. Anyway this Carbine is 95% made up of parts from the WWII era. It is in excellent condition w/good bluing, a stock w/no cracks or abuse and an excellent of an original WWII collectible firearm.
