Description: Winchester Model 1885 High Wall single shot rifle. It started life in April 1902 as a 30" 1/2 octagon #3 32-40 with set trigger, Lyman cup disc rear sight and Swiss butt plate, shipping 6/22/1902 to order #167331. It was received back in the warehouse on 11/6/1902, changed to its current configuration of 28" 1/2 octagon #3 32-40 with set trigger and standard butt plate. Technically this is a "short rifle" as 30" was the standard length for this caliber. It now has a Parker-Hale rear sight, a blank in the rear dovetail, and a knife blade front sight. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, no extra holes. Butt plate is patina with a touch of light surface oxidation on the top flat. Streaks of original blue finish remain on the round portion of the barrel, otherwise a smooth brown patina; octagon portion has a stronger mix of blue & plum. Some original case colors remain on the breech block. The receiver is a mixture of brown patina and silvered out original case colors. Close coupled double set trigger functions as it should and the adjusting screw turns freely. Strong bore with very good rifling, light wear, no pitting or rings, an 8 of 10. Half-cock safety seems to function properly. When closing the lever, the hammer comes forward to the half-cock position and will not stay back so some minor adjustment is needed. Should be checked by a competent gunsmith before firing. Copy of Cody sheet included. All in all a nice representative special order Winchester 1885 High Wall that will letter correctly (except for the tang sight) and will make a great addition to your Winchester collection without breaking your bank account. No international sales. FFL or C&R required for shipping. Know your local laws before . $60 priority mail shipping in a hard case with tracking. Payment by bank check, money order, or discreet PayPal +3% (I will invoice you). 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. 315.251.4799 with questions, concerns, offers entertained.
