Description:
This is a cased # 3 gallery rifle in 25 RF. Uniqueness comes into play with a special order stock. Also the bbl is marked "John Rigby" with their Dublin and London address. Also British proof marks. To top it all off it comes in a case marked with "John Rigby and Co" label on the inside lid. This gun fits like a glove. The case was evidently built for this gun. I'm not sure how they accomplished this. Did Rigby order some Marlin Ballards and did the work on them or was a rich customer who had Rigby work on it after they received it? Whatever the case be, it is a fine looking gun with a 26" oct tapered bbl of medium weight. VG bore with good rifling right down to the chamber. Frame still has most case colors though quite dim. Stronger in protected areas. Smooth metal. Very readable address. Globe flip front sight. Typical English rear sight with a thick blade and also a exceptionally nice tang sight. As stated gun comes in a black case. Inside is green felt which is in decent condition. Just some typical wear marks. Nice feature is an original cleaning rod included. Case is in quite good condition. It is missing the handle and securing straps and also one end is missing. Never seen a Marlin Ballard set-up like this.
